Arrival and dismissal procedures (indoor & outdoor)

Doors will open at 8:30am

All staff members will support students in ensuring they adhere to the social distancing protocols and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and efficient entry and egress from our school.

• Line spots and line markers will be noted on the ground. There are signs on the doors to let students know which door they will use for morning entry.
• PK - will walk around the back of the building to the doors leading straight to their class. (Through the new playground)
• KG will enter through the main entrance to auditorium
• 1st & 3rd graders will enter through double blue doors near the new playground entrance. (Back of school)
• 2nd & 5th graders will enter through blue doors in the front building to the left of the main entrance. 4th graders will enter through blue doors near the back of the school lobby, just outside of the school yard.
• Students will be dismissed from the same locations they used to enter the building.

There are signs displayed on each door for your reference.

 

 

Attendance is the number one predictor of academic success. Just like our staff, children are expected to be at school every day on time. Absences are only appropriate in extreme cases of illness. 10 or more absences may prevent a child from being promoted to the next grade level.

At PS 354, our school day is designed to ensure that your child is fully engaged in purposeful learning that is designed to promote critical thinking, prompt on-going discussion and provide multiple opportunities for our children to show us what they know by applying their newly learned skills to larger concepts and applications. Our objective is to prepare our children to feel confident enough to solve problems and address challenges that they’ve never seen before. If your child is consistently late and/or absent, expect lots of communication with the teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal.
