Anna Hauser (Upper Division - Math)
Anna earned a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Stony Brook University, a Master's of Science for Teachers from Pace University, and a Master's of Science in Education and School Building Leader certificate from Bank Street College of Education. She became a teacher after applying to the NYC Teaching Fellows after college and became certified in 7-12 grade mathematics. She became an educator because she considers herself a life-long learner and wants to develop that practice in her students. Anna received her Gifted & Talented certification from Hunter College and is also a Math for America Master Teacher.
Studying mathematics has always been something that Anna had to work hard on. She believes in inclusion in math and that everyone can learn math to the highest level. She also believes that math is about creativity and making sense. Anna’s favorite class to teach is Algebra 1 and she appreciates the connection between math and science. She loves inquiry and loves when her students share their math questions with her and each other; because everything we know about mathematics started with somebody asking a question.
Anna is a Queens native and has lived in Astoria her whole life. Her favorite subjects in school were mathematics and social studies because she liked the challenge of her math classes and loved learning about US history. Anna volunteers with NY Cares in her community; and especially loves projects that involve helping animals. Anna also enjoys reading, baking, and swimming. She also shares her love of scrapbooking by facilitating the Memory Makers elective in the Upper Division, which is responsible for making the Q300 Upper Division Yearbook.
