Michelle Lin (Lower Division)
Michelle's lifelong dream has always been to become a teacher. Since Michelle was a little girl she would dress up as a teacher and teach her classroom of stuffed animals and her younger brother. Her grandparents were both teachers back in China and inspired her to become an educator; her grandmother was a High School Math teacher and her grandfather was a P.E. teacher. Michelle's grandmother immigrated to the U.S. when Michelle was 3-years-old, she taught herself English and worked hard to understand Michelle's schoolwork; she taught her all subjects, but Michelle loved Math just like her grandma and was doing algebra by 4th grade.
Although Michelle received a Bachelor's degree in Health Science with a concentration in Health Care Management from Stony Brook University, after working in the healthcare field she realized that her heart belonged in a classroom. She worked as a TA at a Pre-K center and immediately fell in love and applied to graduate school. While attending classes, she worked at the center as a head teacher of a toddler classroom. A year and a half later, she couldn't be happier with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. She is also certified in Childhood Education.
