Kiera Sullivan 4th Grade, Lower Division

Kiera attended St. John’s University where she earned her BA in Elementary Education 1-6, with a concentration in Science. Science has always fascinated her. She loves to not only teach the material but to see her students engaged with the materials and come up with their own solutions and test their hypotheses. She completed her Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology at Touro College. This degree has helped Kiera become a better teacher because it can help her connect with her students not only with traditional classroom methods but with more modern approaches. Technology allows students to express themselves and be creative in presenting their ideas. Kiera also has her Gifted and Talented Education Certificate & Extension from NYS which taught her how to help her students find their individual learning style whether it be visual, auditory or tactile. Kiera can then adapt her lessons to include some of these styles because everyone learns at their own pace and in their own way. Students today come from many backgrounds and knowing how to develop their skills and knowledge permits every student the opportunity to achieve excellence in writing, science, history, math and technology.

Kiera grew up in Queens, in the same household her entire life until she moved out on her own. She enjoys traveling in her spare time as well as being a volunteer softball coach for CYO since she was about 19, helping her sister’s team. She enjoys hiking and all things outdoors.
