Jose Jaime Spanish. Lower Division
Jose Jaime started as a Paraprofessional and while working in schools he realized that he really enjoyed this profession, so he decided to go into Education. Jose Jaime went to Queens College for his Bachelor’s degree and he did his Masters in Education at New York University. He taught at IS 235Q “The Academy For New Americans” for about 17 years. He was a Bilingual Teacher and a Math teacher. Currently he is teaching Spanish at Q300 in the lower division.
He enjoys teaching Spanish since it’s his native Language. He came to the United States when he was 13 years old, and as a child he confronted a new culture and a new language, English! It took him several years to learn it, but eventually he did. So, now for him it feels fantastic to teach Spanish because he knows the struggle that children, and people in general, have when learning a new language. For this reason Jose feels that to teach children a new language, Spanish, it’s very rewarding!
Jose also has a background in music, for this reason he believe that if he uses music in his Spanish lessons, it will motivate the students and help them learn this new language better. Jose believes that aspiring it’s a great approach that provides the student with the opportunity to develop self-determination skills, in other words, attitudes and abilities that help them set positive goals for themselves, academically and behaviour wise. He would like his students to end up knowing Spanish by the end of the school year. He hopes to give them a good foundation in basic Spanish that will also motivate them in improving this new language in the future. Jose is very happy to be part of the Q300 family. His goal is to be able to help, motivate, and improve Q300 children’s education and talents.
