Emily McNally Lower Division 4th grade
Emily was born and raised on Long Island and has always had a passion for education. From a young age, her favorite thing to do with her older sister was play school and pretend to be a teacher.
Emily always knew that one day, she would have her own classroom and live out her dream of becoming a teacher. Emily attended Stony Brook University where she double-majored in psychology and sociology. During this time, Emily volunteered at many different daycares, therapy clinics for children, schools, and became a private tutor. She also spent time as a substitute teacher in various schools on Long Island.
Eventually, Emily realized that she wanted to pursue a Master’s in Childhood Education to become a teacher. Emily attended Hunter College in Manhattan to complete her Master’s degree. At the same time, she was a teaching assistant in a 5th grade class at Hunter College Elementary School - a school for gifted and talented children. It was here that she discovered how wonderful and rewarding it is to work with this population of students.
In 2020, Emily decided to continue her education at Lehman College where she received a teaching extension in Gifted & Talented Education. She was thrilled at the opportunity of teaching at Q300 this year!
Emily has been living in Astoria for almost 3 years and absolutely loves it! The diversity, the community, the people, and the food are amongst the many reasons she is happy here. Emily is looking forward to working with the Q300 families this year and beyond!
