Edwin Mora ENL/SEL , Lower Division

Edwin graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in Business Management. After working for different organizations he decided to go back to school to become a teacher. He received a Masters Degree from Queens College where he became a certified teacher in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Edwin became a teacher because he wanted to work with children and enjoys guiding and inspiring others. As a teacher Edwin discovers more about himself and others fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity. Edwin is an avid athlete. In the winter he enjoys snowboarding and ice skating. In the summer he enjoys playing soccer, baseball, tennis, golf and going paddleboarding. He has played on many different sports teams throughout his life and discovered the value of working on a team. Edwin understands that by working as a team more can be accomplished then when working individually.

Edwin’s interest in travel has inspired him to learn more about different cultures from around the world. As a young child his parents would take him traveling to different places, carrying on a tradition that they started before he was born. Edwin soon discovered that it doesn’t matter how many places someone visits, there is always a new place to travel and learn about.

Edwin attended Glen Head Elementary School and North Shore Middle School in Glen Head, NY. Edwin’s favorite school subject was mathematics. He always enjoyed looking for patterns and manipulating numbers. He used this love patterns and numbers to develop strategies when playing games. While he is still competitive he now enjoys teaching these games and strategies to his two sons Tiago and Julian.
