Janet Do (Upper Division)
Janet graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) with a B.A. in Art History. During college, she developed a passion for studying fine arts and dance. Additionally, Janet played the cello in the university orchestra. While studying, she worked as a design assistant for a skiwear designer. After graduation, she relocated to New York City to pursue a career in the fashion industry. She spent 13 years working as a graphic artist and textile designer for several apparel brands.
After volunteering as an SAT prep tutor and reminiscing about her undergraduate work-study position as an America Reads tutor at an elementary school in Amherst, NY, Janet realized that teaching is her true calling. She pursued an M.S. in Childhood Education in Inclusive Settings from Adelphi University. She completed additional graduate courses at Molloy University to earn an extension in Gifted Education in 2021. Janet has worked as a general education teacher and a special education teacher for New York City Public Schools.
As a special education teacher, Janet works with students to guide them toward finding their best selves. She encourages a classroom community filled with empathy, respect, and trust. When Janet is not teaching, she is a recreational tennis player and a newly minted fan of science fiction novels and films. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and their adorable cat, Eevee.
