Christine Katartzis

Christine grew up in Woodside, Queens, and attended P.S. 11, I.S. 125, and Newtown High School. She graduated from LIU's Brooklyn Campus, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master's degree in School Counseling. Christine always desired to work in a profession devoted to helping others and felt that school counseling was the perfect fit for her since she enjoyed working with children. Christine discovered her passion for counseling while employed as a career advisor at Long Island University where she counseled first-year students and helped them choose a major based on their skills and interests.

She was also the Senior Recruitment Coordinator and oversaw the On-Campus Recruitment program and helped secure jobs for graduating seniors. She desired to help all students discover and develop their talents while acquiring coping skills to deal with life's challenges effectively. For the past 18 years, Christine has counseled students in the elementary school and middle school level in school districts 25, 29 and 30 serving students from all different races and ethnic backgrounds. She served as the internal coach for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) in several schools and initiated a data driven comprehensive multi-tiered system of support for behavior.

Christine strongly believes that social and emotional skills are a prerequisite to academic and future success. She also believes that showing empathy and kindness is what helps children grow and thrive. Her goal at Q300 is to help create a positive school culture where each child feels safe, loved, and respected. Christine has a passion for cooking and enjoys watching the food network channel. She loves to browse through recipes to discover new family favorites. She believes that cooking is a common thread that connects all races, nationalities, and backgrounds. She also enjoys reading, reflecting on life, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Christine presently lives in Long Island with her husband and three children. She is currently pursuing an advanced certificate in mental health counseling from Alfred University and is working on getting her license as a mental health counselor.
