Anna earned a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Stony Brook University, a Master's of Science for Teachers from Pace University, and a Master's of Science in Education and School Building Leader certificate from Bank Street College of Education. She became a teacher after applying to the NYC Teaching Fellows and is certified in 7-12 grade mathematics. Anna has taught math in NYC Public Schools since 2007 and considers herself a lifelong learner and works to develop that love of learning in her students. Anna received her Gifted & Talented certification from Hunter College and is also a Math for America Master Teacher & NYS Master Teacher.
Studying mathematics has always been something that Anna had to work hard on. She believes in inclusion in math and that everyone can learn math to the highest level. She also believes that math is about creativity and making sense. Anna’s favorite class to teach is Algebra 1 and she appreciates the connection between math and science. She loves inquiry and gets excited when her students share their math questions with her and each other. Anna is a Queens native and has lived in Astoria her whole life. Not only is she a District 30 teacher, but she is also a District 30 parent and she currently lives with her husband and two children.
Anna enjoys reading, baking, and swimming. She also shares her love of scrapbooking by facilitating the Memory Makers elective in the Upper Division, which is responsible for putting together the Q300 Upper Division Yearbook every year. She has been a teacher at Q300 since 2015 and has had the privilege of graduating every 8th grade class so far.
