Amanda Cheung ENL Amanda earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Childhood Education and a Master's of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from CUNY Queens College. Amanda became an educator because she wanted to help create a positive and welcoming environment for young students’ first experience in school, especially for students whose first language is not English. Amanda started her educational journey in the DOE when she was in the second grade and she knows the amount of hard work it takes to succeed in an environment where language is your biggest obstacle.
Having grown up in Queens, where it is a vibrant and diverse melting pot, Amanda is grateful for all the different cultural backgrounds she’s been exposed to, because it has allowed her to meet and work with students from all over the world. It has been a rewarding career thus far being able to support families from various backgrounds and I look forward to continuing this work at Q300.
